Player & Parent Code of Conduct

Northern Light Sports represents much more than athletic competition. Every traveler is an ambassador for their family, team, community, and country. We expect all participants to conduct themselves with integrity, respect, and professionalism throughout the entire journey.

By participating in a Northern Light Sports program, all players and parents agree to uphold the following standards.

PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT

1. Represent Your Team with Pride

Players will:

• Display honesty, integrity, and sportsmanship at all times.
• Respect teammates, coaches, officials, opponents, and local communities.
• Remember they are representing Northern Light Sports and the United States.

2. Be Coachable

Players agree to:

• Maintain a positive attitude.
• Listen respectfully to coaches.
• Accept coaching and constructive feedback.
• Encourage teammates.
• Place team success ahead of individual accomplishments.

3. Respect the Game

Players will:

• Never argue with officials.
• Never taunt opponents.
• Win with humility.
• Lose with class.
• Shake hands after every competition.

4. Respect Local Cultures

International travel is about more than sports.

Players will:

• Respect local customs and traditions.
• Learn about the countries they visit.
• Treat every host family, guide, driver, hotel employee, and volunteer with kindness.
• Appreciate cultural differences.

5. Hotel Expectations

Players agree to:

• Respect hotel property.
• Keep rooms clean.
• Observe quiet hours.
• Never damage facilities.
• Be financially responsible for intentional damage.

6. Curfew

Players must:

• Observe all curfews.
• Remain in assigned rooms after curfew.
• Never leave the hotel without permission from coaches.

7. Social Media

Players represent Northern Light Sports online.

Players should:

• Think before posting.
• Never bully or embarrass teammates.
• Avoid inappropriate language or images.
• Post content that reflects positively on themselves and the organization.

8. Alcohol, Tobacco & Drugs

The use or possession of:

• Alcohol
• Tobacco
• Marijuana
• Vaping products
• Illegal drugs

is strictly prohibited for all athletes.

Violation may result in immediate removal from the trip at the family's expense.

9. Academic and Personal Responsibility

Players should:

• Be organized.
• Be punctual.
• Keep passports secure.
• Arrive prepared.
• Take responsibility for personal belongings.

10. Team First

Northern Light Sports values:

Every decision should reflect those values.

PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT

1. Support Every Athlete

Parents agree to:

• Encourage all players.
• Celebrate effort as much as results.
• Never embarrass athletes from either team.

2. Respect Coaches

Parents will:

• Allow coaches to coach.
• Support coaching decisions.
• Discuss concerns privately and respectfully.
• Avoid coaching from the stands.

3. Respect Officials

Parents agree to:

• Never verbally abuse officials.
• Accept judgment calls.
• Model sportsmanship for young athletes.

4. Be Positive

Parents will:

• Cheer positively.
• Encourage effort.
• Avoid criticism during games.
• Help create an enjoyable atmosphere.

5. Respect International Hosts

Parents are ambassadors for Northern Light Sports.

Please:

• Respect local customs.
• Be courteous to guides, drivers, restaurants, hotels, and tournament staff.
• Remember that your behavior reflects on every traveler in our group.

6. Travel Responsibility

Parents are responsible for:

• Passports
• Required travel documents
• Travel insurance
• Arrival at airports on time
• Personal medications
• Communicating any special needs

7. Social Media

Parents are encouraged to:

• Share positive memories.
• Respect the privacy of other families.
• Avoid posting inappropriate comments about coaches, players, officials, or tournament organizers.

8. Safety First

Parents agree to:

• Follow all travel instructions.
• Attend required meetings.
• Respect curfews and schedules.
• Inform staff of emergencies immediately.

9. Financial Responsibility

Families understand they may be responsible for:

• Damage to hotels
• Lost room keys
• Transportation delays caused by negligence
• Personal expenses not included in the tour

10. Support the Mission

Northern Light Sports exists to:

• Develop athletes
• Build character
• Experience different cultures
• Create lifelong friendships
• Use sport to connect people around the world

Parents are partners in that mission.

Consequences for Misconduct

Failure to follow this Code of Conduct may result in one or more of the following:

• Verbal warning
• Parent meeting
• Suspension from team activities
• Removal from a game or event
• Dismissal from the tour without refund
• Return travel arranged at the participant's or family's expense
• Future ineligibility for Northern Light Sports programs

The severity of the consequence will depend on the nature of the violation.

Registration for any Northern Light Sports program constitutes acceptance of this Code of Conduct by both the participant and their parent or guardian. We ask every traveler to help us create a safe, respectful, and unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
